Bears’ Softball has hits and misses

The Bridgewater State University women’s softball team is a month into their schedule and are 8-10 and 1-1 within the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Lady Bears had their three game winning streak snapped on Wednesday when they lost to Wheaton College in game one of a doubleheader, but bounced back with 6-5 win in game two.

On Tuesday, swept a doubleheader against Rhode Island College. Bridgewater State took the first game 8-4 and followed it up with a 5-2 win in game two.

In game one, with Rhode Island College leading 4-3 in the fifth, senior outfielder Courtney Gregoire hit a two-run home run to put the Bears in the lead for good.

In game two, senior third baseman Jennifer Shaw led the Lady Bears with a double, a walk, and a run scored in three plate appearances. Senior pitcher Meghan Dunn pitched a complete game giving up one earned run on four hits while striking out five.
