Film Talk: Alligators, Adaptation, and Adaptation Studies Today

Maxwell Heritage Room 2:00 p.m.

Timothy Corrigan, film scholar and textbook author of “How to Write About Film” from the University of Pennsylvania, will speak about the Charlie Kaufman/Spike Jonze film “Adaptation.”

Travels Through Castro’s Cuba

Maxwell Library Heritage Room 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.

Latin American & Caribbean Studies will present its Keynote Speaker, author Tom Miller. Miller is the author of “Trading with the Enemy: A Yankee Travels Through Castro’s Cuba,” “The Panama Hat Trail,” and “Revenge of the Saguaro,” among other works. All are welcome to hear him speak. Refreshments will be served. Sponsored by the Latin American & Caribbean Studies Program, the College of Humanities & Social Sciences, the Foreign Languages Department, the Maxwell Library, the Ethnic Studies Program, and the Center for Sustainability. Students will learn about the ancient Greek culture and Greek Life on campus, while eating authentic Greek food. This event is part of Greek Week and sponsored by Program Committee. The menu consists of Greek salad, spinach pie, dolmathes, chicken and pork kebabs, and baklava.

Great Hill Grind 2013

Race starts at Great Hills Trails/Tower Lot

Check In/Registration at 5:00 p.m. Race begins at 5:30 p.m.

Three person teams of BSU students, faculty, and staff compete in a two-mile race, complete with obstacles and challenges along the way. Special prizes for best dressed team. Cost: $10 per team (BSU students, staff, faculty and admins), $15 after April, $20 day of program.

Springfest 2013 Carnival

Moakley Parking Lot 4:00 p.m.

Join Program Committee and Student Government Association for the Springfest 2013 Carnival. Free food, games, and free prizes. The carnival will include swings, a mechanical bull, zero gravity chamber, and more. Students can also buy a Springfest t-shirts at the Carnival.

 

Tuesday, April 16

Bears in Space! Springfest Photo Novelty

Rondileau Campus Center Lower Foyer 11:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Take a picture on the moon, among the stars, or with an alien. This event is part of Springfest and sponsored by Student Government Association and Program Committee.

 

Wednesday, April 17

Springfest Drive in Movie

Rondileau Campus Center Fountain Area 8:00 p.m.

This year’s Springfest “drive in” movie is Space Jam. During the movie students can enjoy snacks and treats from a whoopie pie truck.

 

Thursday, April 18

Springfest Comedian: Jay Pharoah

Adrian Tinsley Center doors open at 7:00 p.m., show begins at 8:00 p.m.

Comedian Jay Pharoah will perform in this free event sponsored by Program Committee and Student Government Association.

One guest per BSU ID is permitted. All guests must have a drivers license or another form of valid ID (IDs from other schools are NOT acceptable forms of ID) and be at least 18 years old on the day of the event. All BSU community members must show their BSU ID to enter the event.

NO bags, purses, wristlets or cameras allowed in the event. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you bring any of the previously listed items, you will be asked to return it to your Residence Hall or vehicle.
