Men’s/Women’s Outdoor Track And Field Brief
This past weekend, the Bridgewater State University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams took part in two meets, the Larry Ellis Invitational and the Eric Loeschner Memorial Meet.
The Larry Ellis Invitational was a non-scoring meet, while the men placed third and the women placed sixth at the Erich Loeschner Memorial meet.
Sophomore Josh Goehring placed sixth in the 800-meter run at the Larry Ellis Invitational, and was the top Division III runner in the event. Goehring was named MASCAC Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for his efforts.
Senior Molly Rouillard ran at the same meet for the Lady Bears, and placed 14th in the 1,500-meter run, breaking a school record in the process.
At the Eric Loeschner Memorial meet, on the men’s side, sophomore Brian Espinosa won the long jump event with a distance of 23 feet, 5.5 inches and placed second in the 100-meter run with a time of 11.20 seconds. Junior Joshua Danner-Hicks took first in the triple jump setting a school record with a distance of 47 feet, 6.07 inches and senior Michael McPherson captured first place in the shot put.
For the women, freshman Danielle Poto won the only individual event for the Bears in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:12.54. Junior Taylor Robitaille placed fifth in the pole vault, and junior Laura McHugh placed fifth in the 200-meter dash.
