After Suzanne Collin’s novel The Hunger Games captured readers of all ages, the film did so in theaters last year. Recently, Netflix has added the popular action movie into their steam. As many already know, the film looks in on the future and a young adult living during these strange times, Katniss Everdeen. After Katniss sacrifices herself for her younger sister to participate in the deadly Hunger Games, she attempts to change the rules, her life, and the future for all of society. 4 out of 5 stars.

 

along came aAlong Came a Spider

Another adaptation from a novel by James Patterson, Along Came a Spider, has been added to Netflix. This thrilling film may be older, but is filled with the qualities of a good suspense movie: twists and talented actors such as Morgan Freeman. The film immediately pulls viewers in when a congressman’s young daughter is kidnapped and a detective, Alex Cross,already experiencing some loss of his own must solve the case. 4 out of 5 stars.

For TV shows this week, Netflix has streamed  Ted Talks. The show hosts a variety of guests who give speeches on a topic of their choice. Whether the talks are about science, writing, or new inventions, an interest could be found for everyone. The category Smart Laughs,however, focuses on comedy — talks that are humorous, yet still involve the above topics. 5 out of 5 stars.
