Martin Luther King III will not come to Bridgewater State University on March 5.
Bridgewater State’s Student Government Association (SGA), the hosts of the lecture, said MLK III has a personal commitment which is why the event is being postponed to a further date.
SGA has yet to release the new date set for MLK III to come talk to Bridgewater State students and the community.
They announced to their Twitter followers that MLK III had a personal commitment and therefore they were rescheduling the event.
SGA declined to comment on the postponement of the event.
The event had been widely publicized for weeks, with a sign outside the SGA office and flyers all across campus, from residence halls to Rondileau Campus Center bulletin boards.
SGA is currently working through the setback and said on Twitter that they hope to have a new date for the event in place within a few days.
The SGA Lecture Series is a popular event at Bridgewater State as past SGA speakers have included Lee Hirsch, the author of Bully, and Collins Tuohy, a member of the family the movie The Blind Side was based off of.
