Lady Bears Volleyball hold their own, finish third at J & W Invitational

The BSU Lady Bears Varsity volleyball team had a fine showing at the Johnson & Wales Invitational over the past weekend, ending the tournament with 2-2 record and finishing in third place overall.
The Bears entered the tournament playing fairly strong, sitting with an overall record of 14-8. The team lost its matchup to Western Connecticut State University 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-23).
However, the Bears bounced back nicely, ending the tournament with a victory over Plymouth State 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-20). The weekend certainly had its ups and downs for the Bears, but the team was able to pull together and end the tournament on a high note.
Freshman Christina Jaros led the Bears over the weekend, earning all-tournament honors. Jaros recorded 28 kills and a whopping nine blocks.
The Bears also got a strong contribution from sophomore setter Charleyne Palmer. Palmer is an absolute assist machine, tallying up 108 assists during the tournament, bring her to 1,313 career assists.
The Bears will play this upcoming weekend at the Union Invitational competition in New York.
