BSUPD releases ‘Safety on Campus’ security report

Bridgewater State University released its yearly publication, Safety on Campus: 2014 Annual Security report this month.

According to the text, “Bridgewater State University, with a population of over 11,000, including 3,500 resident students, is both a center for higher education and a vibrant, active community. As with any community of similar size, criminal activity and emergencies can and do occur on campus.”

In 2014, BSU reported on-campus:

  • 5 cases of unfounded forcible sex offenses
  • 187 liquor law arrests
  • 10 drug law arrests
  • 1 reported hate crime
  • 2 aggravated assaults
  • 1 case of arson
  • 7 reports of domestic violence
  • 5 reports of dating violence
  • 9 reports of stalking
  • 2 weapons law arrests

Safety in Campus is published in accordance with the standards and guidelines used by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Uniform Crime Reporting Handbook and the federal law, the Clery Act.
