Patriots Draft Preview (Written by Ben Glover)

The NFL Draft is taking place from April 28th to April 30th. The New England Patriots currently have a total of six draft picks, this could change anytime leading up to the draft or during draft day. They have a pick in every round except for round 7. The question now becomes, what will Bill Belichick do with all these draft picks? I will be creating a mock draft for the first three picks the Patriots have.

With the departure of JC Jackson, the Patriots should look to pick up another cornerback. The Patriots are picking 21st overall in the draft, which is in the first round. Florida Gators Cornerback Kaiir Elam is one of the top cornerback prospects in the draft and should be available at the 21st pick.

One of our best linebackers, Jamie Collins, is no longer on the team, and with Dont’a Hightower getting up in age it is time to look at the future for the position. While Ja’Whaun Bentley is a solid starter, Chad Muma out of Wyoming should be a great pickup for the team, with him hopefully being available in the second round, the 54th pick overall.

The next pick the Patriots have is in the third round, 85th overall, which the Pats will be looking for offense. The Patriots currently have Nelson Agholor and DeVante Parker for wide receivers, who are ok for the role but they share the number one receiver position. While in the third round there might not be a number one receiver, there is the potential to pick out a good number two receiver. John Metchie could be available, which would reunite him with his college quarterback at Alabama, Mac Jones.
