Patriots First Month: Mac Jones Ankle Injury
The 2022 New England Patriots season is fully underway and there have been ups and downs, including injuries and losses.
In Week 1, the Patriots lost in Miami to Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins by the score of 20-7. The only touchdown that the Patriots had was a pass to former Packer Ty Montgomery. In week 2, the Patriots got their first win of the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers, where the Patriots rebounded after an interception thrown by Mac Jones to Minkah Fitzpatrick. In week 3, the Patriots had their home opener against Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens, where they allowed Jackson to score for five total touchdowns in the loss.
Most importantly, Mac Jones had an ankle injury in the 4th quarter where he hobbled off the field. This took place in the last drive of the fourth quarter. Before then, Mac Jones went for 22/32, 321 passing yards, and three interceptions. However, Jones made some awesome moves while scrambling and scored a rushing touchdown in the loss.
During the week, there were questions on whether Mac would play in the game against the Green Bay Packers. Then on Friday it was determined that Mac would be inactive for that game and that career backup quarterback Bryan Hoyer would start for the Patriots for the second time in his career.
