2024 Formula One Season Preview
Formula One is back on track!
The 2024 Formula One season is ready to rev its engines. So, let’s see what’s been updated so far.
If you are new to Formula One or have been in the game as long as Fernando Alonso, the new season always has something fun and new in store for all spectators. Each season, ten teams with two drivers each must prepare for the global competition that is racing. Each car and driver requires special attention to detail as well as training under pressure to mold them into the next world champion.
Last season, three-time world champion Max Verstappen (he/him) won his third championship with Red Bull. Red Bull also won the drivers’ championship, leaving a big impression on the 2023 season. With the new season up and coming, many teams have looked to not only how they can improve their cars and strategies, but how they can outperform Red Bulls’ outstanding performance. They are certainly the team to beat, but Red Bull also has the challenge of maintaining their status on track.
One thing about an F1 car is it has got to have balance. Whether it’s from how fast it goes to how it looks, the cars are constantly adapting to be the best possible machinery in the game. Some cars like Ferrari’s red SF-24, McLaren’s orange MCL38, and Aston Martin’s teal W15 keep the iconic colors. Some cars have taken a complete turn like the Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber rocking their new C44 neon green car.
But it is not just the cars that win the races. Drivers are not only racing for their own competitive advantage but also for their team. There are two championships, the drivers and the constructors. So, it is crucial as a team to not just choose a good driver, but a good teammate as well. All drivers from the previous 2023 season will race in 2024: however, multiple contracts are ending for many racers. The question is, who is leaving and who is staying? So far, Charles Leclerc (he/him) has extended his contract for Ferrari, which is recorded as the longest contract with the team thus far. Lewis Hamilton (he/him) has announced his move from Mercedes to Ferrari for the 2025 season, and I’m sure it will not be the last of exciting new changes.
