Get Your Money’s Worth With BSU Scholarships!

Looking for ways to make college more affordable for you? The BSU Scholarship Portal has just opened for the 2024-2025 school year! To make the scholarship application process a little easier, here are some important things you should keep in mind!

For starters, it’s important that you keep an eye on how much time you have to apply for these scholarships. The portal closes on March 15, so you have about a month to complete some checklist items that are necessary for the applications.

In order to begin your application process, you must fill out the general application. You’ll need to start by finding the BSU Scholarship Database, which can be accessed through a quick search on the BSU website. Once you have accessed the database, you’ll be able to see the scholarships available, however you must fill out the general application first which include general questions and three essay questions (one is optional but encouraged). Although the essay questions may seem daunting on top of the current school work students have, it is certainly worth it for the outcome!

Once you finish the general application, you’ll be able to look through the scholarships available. There are many scholarship opportunities for different students, such as scholarships being for specific majors, class years, or students involved in extracurriculars. You will also have the ability to see how much these scholarships are worth as well as what you will need to include in the application.

On the subject of supplemental information needed for applications, it is important to keep in mind that some scholarship applications ask for a letter of recommendation. This is where time management plays a big role. Take the time to reach out to a professor or two to see if they would be willing to write you a letter of recommendation. Not only should you give them time to respond, but they should also have a good amount of time to write it. Asking a day or two in advance before applications are due is not the best move compared to asking a month in advance!

With all this in mind, be sure to be proud of all that you have accomplished so far in college! Scholarships are a great way for the university to give back to you what you have done for it!

PC Drag Show: A Sickening Success

The drag show is my favorite Program Council (PC) event every year, and this spring was no different. This year there were three local queens, and all of them were phenomenal.
