Student Organization Spotlight: Student Theatre Association (STA)
Do you have a passion for the performing arts that you wish to explore in a welcoming, creative environment with other like-minded students? Then Bridgwater’s own Student Theatre Association Club might be a perfect place for you.
The club is open to those of all majors and is focused on building connections between students and local theatrical organizations while also creating a safe space for those to practice their skills in musical theatre. Zach DeAlmo, president of the STA, states, “Creating a safe space for all students is at our organization’s core. We create our events to foster that growth.” These events include karaoke night, Just Dance, game nights, and meetings where students can gain valuable skills and experiences regarding theatre. Along with this, it’s a wonderful space to foster relationships with those also passionate about the performing arts, something that DeAlmo found to be consistently special about the organization.
Along with this, he has always found it to be a wonderful way to give back to the Bridgewater community through performing. DeAlmo has been a part of the club for multiple years now, originally participating as a member and eventually earning the position of treasurer. Now, as president of the club, he wishes to truly promote the club as a safe space for those to express their passions in theatre and the performing arts.
No matter one’s previous experience or engagement with other theatrical programs, everyone is welcome to be a part of their community and practice their skills. The STA was originally known as “Ensemble Theatre” around campus but was eventually rebranded a few years ago as the Student Theatre Association. Since this, the club has been known to host multiple fun events such as “Improv Night”, free headshots for upcoming performers, and a yearly banquet for those participating in the club to celebrate their work.
