Anime to Binge over Winter Break!
Next, you’ll say, “But Jason, I’ve already got so much on my watch list!” If you didn’t get that reference, keep reading. If you did understand it, also keep reading. You might find something new to watch! Anyway, I’m getting ahead of myself. Winter break is finally here, and you need something to do besides sleeping in. That’s why Mr. Anime himself is here to give some of my favorite show recommendations!
Let’s start off with my first recommendation and reference in the introduction, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. The series is broken down into several different parts that connect to one overarching story, each part being unique and bizarre in its own way. With a unique art style and some of the best fights I have ever seen in anime, Jojo is definitely an anime that can stand proud.
But what about an anime that isn’t well-known? If you want a blend of horror and comedy that welcomes you to chaos, I’d recommend Dorohedoro. The series is set in a world of sorcerers and follows the lizard-headed man, Kaiman, who seeks to find his origin. With season 2 currently in production, now is a great time to check it out. Just make sure you can handle gore though, because this show is definitely not for the faint of heart.
And lastly, if you’re looking for an anime that’s just fun, I’d definitely give Sk8 the Infinity a try. I never was into skateboarding much, but after watching the 12-episode magic that is this anime, I immediately wanted to try it. The characters (particularly the protagonists, Reki and Langa) are some of the best I have ever seen in an anime, and by the end, you’ll be like me and be begging for a second season.
But these are just a few recommendations! I truly believe that there is an anime for everyone, and you just have to find it. I hope everyone has a relaxing winter break and a fun binging season!
