BSU is Hooked on Crochet!
Are you looking for an activity to help you unwind at the end of a stressful week of classes? Or looking for a creative outlet to help you get involved in your community? BSU’s Crochet Club is for you.
The goal of the newfound club is to bring a calm, friendly, and creative space for students to relax and develop their crochet skills. Club president Kate Flaherty has expressed her excitement with the development of the club and the success the general members and officers have accomplished in just one month of being an official club.
Currently, the club is creating crochet sea-life plushies to donate to the New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance (NECWA) to raise money for endangered marine species, such as the sunfish. NECWA is a non-profit that collaborates with local and private organizations to develop research projects that help researchers and the public alike to understand the unique marine life found on New England shores.
As they are still fairly new to campus, this is currently the only fundraiser planned, but they are discussing other ideas such as donating hats and scarves to homeless shelters for the cold winter months.
If this club is something you are interested in getting involved in, Crochet Club meets in Rondileu Student Union room 119 every Friday from 3-5 p.m., and is accepting everyone, from beginners to “this isn’t my first rodeo” crocheters.
