Los Angeles Dodgers Win the World Series
After an action-packed set of games, the Las Angeles Dodgers have won the World Series over the New York Yankees. Led by First Baseman and World Series MVP Freddie Freeman, the Dodgers were able to take the title in five games. This was an unprecedented win for the Dodgers, as their last win was deep into the COVID-19 pandemic during the year of 2020
The series started off with a bang, as Freeman managed to take home a win in game 1 with a walk-off home run in extra innings. Freeman’s homer was the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history.
The Dodgers also won games two and three by a score of 4-2, giving them a commanding 3-0 series lead. Outfielders Mookie Betts and Teoscar Hernandez led the way in game two, securing two hits each, while Freeman homered again in game three.
Being the resilient team they are, the Yankees bounced back, winning game four with a score of 11-4. Gleyber Torres exploded for three hits (including a homerun), while the likes of Shortstop Anthony Volpe and Catcher Austin Wells contributed two hits each.
The Dodgers shut down all hope for the Yankees in game five, clinching their title with a score of. 7-6. Betts, Freeman, and Hernandez each had two RBI, while a series of inexcusable Yankees errors let LA come back and take the lead in the 8th. Picher Walker Buehler closed things out for the Dodgers, pitching a flawless 9th inning to seal the deal
The Dodgers celebration parade, which had started at city hall, was caught in major traffic, lasting for a couple of hours, as people left their cars to take photos of the team. While time-consuming, the players’ spirits remained high, as they accomplished their goal of winning a World Series.
