Make Way for Lady Gaga’s MAYHEM!
March 7th marks the day Mother Monster makes her long awaited return with a brand-new album titled MAYHEM! Lady Gaga’s seventh studio album comes nearly 5 years after 2020’s Chromatica and almost 6 months after 2024’s imaginative Harlequin, released as a “companion album” accompanying Gaga’s portrayal of Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux. The upcoming album will feature previously released singles “Disease”, “Abracadabra”, and “Die with a Smile” sung with Bruno Mars.
Gaga first teased her return with this album in March 2024, and since then has been laying breadcrumbs leading up to release. Later that year in July, she revealed snippets of upcoming music to a crowd of fans outside her hotel at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, adding to the excitement.
“Disease” was the first single officially released, giving the public a taste of the album’s expected soundscape just last October. Described as “a potent dose of dungeon-dark electro-pop” by The Independent, the song is paired with an equally dark and punchy music video.
During a commercial break between the 67th Grammy awards, the music video for MAYHEM’s second single “Abracadabra” was unveiled, featuring the artist alongside a flock of dancers performing under the watchful eye of another Lady Gaga dressed entirely in red. The track is reminiscent of the sound of her older works such as The Fame Monster or Born This Way and has set expectations high for the album in what Gaga describes as “genre-bending” and “a deeply personal look into [her] mind as a producer”.
Lady Gaga will be headlining Coachella this coming April and I’m sure we can expect another “ball” tour following the album’s release. Put your paws together in celebration, Little Monsters!
