The YouTube Situation is INSANE
While I am in no way a ‘professional content creator,’ I have been doing this since 2017, and I have seen a lot of change. That being said, YouTube is just not what it used to be. What was once a creative landscape of originality has been turned into formulaic drama and brain-rotting shorts.
Does the title seem familiar to you? Of course it does; it’s everywhere these days in drama analysis videos. When two content creators start fighting, the first thing that people do is make MULTIPLE videos documenting it. These videos are almost always the same boring recap with the creator calling it stupid. Why are you making a video on it then?
That is nothing compared to YouTube shorts, where once again, we have a formula that is even scarier than the definition of a derivative: a loud and quick introduction, a very brief bit of content, and lastly, the swipe of negative brain cells as you watch another short. While I have seen some YouTubers actually make a few good-quality shorts, most are just unfunny, and it gets really bad when YouTubers spam them instead of actual new videos.
The worst part of all: the algorithm LOVES these videos. Now, I will admit here that I am a hypocrite because I have created a few shorts over my YouTube career (4 in total out of 300+ videos). One of these shorts is just a brief, bad joke I made in a gaming video that reached around 1,400 views over a few months. That short got over 2,000 views in a mere two weeks.
While I do continue to enjoy content creation, and I love interacting with subscribers and other creators, I definitely have a huge problem with the way content creation is going. That being said… make sure to like the article and subscribe for more AWESOME articles (sorry, I had to do it).
