A Complete Level Up – Solo Leveling Season 2

I first heard of Solo Leveling when I was hanging out with a few of my friends over break. Surprised to hear that I hadn’t heard of it, we sat down to watch the first episode, and approximately 23 minutes later, I was completely hooked. Coming into season two, I had a lot of high expectations based on how good season one was, and to my surprise, not only did season two hit those same highs, but it has also surpassed them.

Let’s start off with the animation and music. As with last season, both have a lot of effort put in and it greatly increases the enjoyment. The fights are fun to watch, the sound matches each scene, and best of all, the quality of the animation didn’t drop at all. Of the music, I think my favorite is the ending theme, “Un-Apex” which has quickly become one of my favorite songs in general.

As for the story, the plot wastes no time getting back into Sung Jinwoo’s quest to become stronger; however, this time things are a bit different. Now with a shadow army at his command, Jinwoo is able to take on even tougher opponents and is now not completely alone. Does that make it Solo Leveling anymore? Technically not, but this creates a great way to continue his growth.

Are there any flaws to the series? Admittedly one and that is the side characters. While the other characters are well written and interesting, they don’t get much to do compared to Jinwoo. I personally don’t find this something that takes away enjoyment, but I did find myself wishing for some character spotlight at points.

That being said, I still think Solo Leveling season 2 deserves a 10/10 rating. With amazing visuals, an enjoyable plot, and some great music, Solo Leveling season 2 makes for an amazing watch and I cannot wait for season 3!
