Arianna’s “Eternal Sunshine” is eternally outstanding!
Pop singer Ariana Grande released Eternal Sunshine on March 8th, 2024, making it her 7th studio album in her discography. The album earned three Grammy nominations for: Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Dance/Pop Recording for her single “Yes, And?,” and Best Pop Duo Group Performance for her “The Boy is Mine” with Brandy and Monica. Unfortunately, Ariana Grande didn’t win either of her nominations and has not attended the Grammys since 2021. Yet, the album reached immense success, with Variety writer Jim Aswad writing, “If it felt like her last couple of albums represented finding her voice as an artist, now she’s really found it” (Aswad). With the deluxe release of Ariana Grande’s album Eternal Sunshine on March 28th, the praise continues as fans and articles comment on Grande’s growth as a person and an artist. Her utilization of vocal range sets the deluxe tracks apart from the original album in songs such as “Past Life”, as she showcases her signature high notes and vocal range. Fans have noticed the references from her previous album with her former ex, with lyrics from Grande’s song “Hampstead”, referencing her song “POV”, from her last album, Positions, with the lyrics: “I’d rather be seen and alive than dying by your point of view” (Hampstead) and “For all of my pretty, and all of my ugly too, I’d love to see me from your point of view.” (POV). According to fans, the deluxe tracks feel like a continuation of the album’s narrative in which Grande shares the mourning of past relationships and the journey of self-love as she moves forward.
