Bernie Sanders and AOC Launch “Fight Oligarchy” Tour

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders are calling all supporters in favor of creating a more livable and affordable, life for all Americans, no matter their social status. Donald Trump, recently elected president, has undermined the needs of the working American class, creating policies that benefit the rich. AOC and Sanders’ goal on this tour is to fight for stable economic rights, and the return of an inviting community, disregarding race, sexual orientation, or status.

The politician pairing made multiple stops across the country, influencing the residents of Montana, California, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, and Nevada, with more to come. The two plan to educate the public on how as a society, we can combat the influence of these corrupt political leaders. Taking on oligarchy is a big task, but no policy will move forward without the action of the American people.

The politicians have described their fear for the future of our country and the lives of working-class citizens. “We are watching as our neighbors, students and friends are being fired, targeted and disappeared,” Ocasio-Cortez expresses. The working-class of the United States is being withered away by the authoritarian policies put into place by the U.S.’s upper-class officials. With Trump’s efforts to deny social security, citizens day-to-day lives are on the verge of travesty. Many people rely on this supplemental income due to the outrageous economic state of our country.

The current state of our government is bringing fear to the future generation. Many citizens have expressed their hope to get through the current presidency unharmed yet are now worried for what little rights their children will have. People are angry, and the progressive politicians are working to address those concerns. It’s not just politicians who can make a change in society; it’s the masses.
