I Survived Watching The Last of Us Season 2 (No I Didn’t)

In simple terms, I laughed, cried (so much), and fangirled (so hard) over Bella Ramsey. Yup, that was my experience watching the first two episodes of season two of The Last of Us, but for the sake of convincing you to give it a watch, I’ll go into a further explanation.

So far, the season has done a fantastic job continuing the storyline from season one, which makes sense because part two of the video game did just that. I am so impressed so far by how similar the TV show adaptation is to the video game. For people who already know the storyline, the TV show has also added new plot points, which keeps viewers on the edge of their seats, regardless of their knowledge of the video game, which I really appreciate.

It has been so nice to have Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey back on my TV screen, but the new cast members are just as good. I’m most notably excited about Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, and Catherine O’Hara.

I also feel the need to address the elephant in the room. On TikTok, I’ve seen a lot of controversy around the casting for the show. Personally, I love the casting. I think that everyone fits their role so well, and if I hear one more person talk about how Kaitlyn Dever isn’t muscular enough for the role… I just think people need to chill with typecasting. It’s not that deep, and Dever is doing a fantastic job being the most hated character ever (but we don’t hate the actress)!

Ultimately, if you are looking for an action-packed, terrifyingly realistic take on a post-apocalyptic video game, you have to watch The Last of Us and tune in every Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. ET to watch new episodes on Max.
