Lazer Tag Lights up Kelly Gym
On Monday, April 14, 2025, Kelly Gym transformed into a flashing battlefield as the Program Council (PC) hosted an exciting lazer tag event, drawing students for an evening of high-energy fun. Students darted across the gym, taking refuge behind obstacles as they tried to shoot other players with infrared beams.
According to PC member Brandon Krup, this event was inspired by a successful lazer tag event last year. They moved it to Kelly Gym this time because, in his words, “bigger is better,” said Krup. “I loved it last year because I volunteered at it. Now that I’m in a position to help run these events, I said ‘let’s run it back.’”
The event featured an array of game modes, including classic team face-off, free-for-all, “golden gun,” and “submachine gun,” catering to both strategic players and those craving chaos. BSU student Tillie Keaney called it a “super dope exercise on a Monday night,” praising Program Council’s efforts: “PC did a great job with this event. Super fun.”
First-timer Stephanie Simon was equally enthusiastic, declaring laser tag “my favorite.”
Competitive spirits ran high, with Dylan Spring embodying the intensity: “Laser tag is the greatest, but when you’re in the field you never give up without a fight.”
Sam, another participant, reveled in the thrill, admitting he’s a “big fan of competitive games” and “never” feels bad delivering the final blow.
The event was facilitated by CNY Attractions’ Phil, who travels nationwide, bringing laser tag to colleges from Chicago to Miami. It’s easy to see why this activity is popular among so many college students! Especially at a time when school can be stressful, it was a great way to have fun with friends and blow off some steam.
