Tips after the MEGA Career Fair

Now that you have spoken, met, and maybe given your resume to the recruiters at the MEGA Job & Internship Fair, what should you do now?

First, reflect on your experience at the fair, make a list of companies that you are interested in, and plan to send a follow-up email. Like how news is most interesting, while it is trending, send a thank you follow-up to the recruiter as soon as possible so that they remember you. Add details like specifics that you spoke about with the recruiter.

Continue to gather more information about the companies of interest either through Handshake, Glassdoor, the company’s website, or the QR code or email the recruiter provided to see what is on the hiring pages, role availability, and analyze the responsibilities of the positions. After you have checked on the openings, you can polish any skills applicable to the desired position, plan to apply, and apply.

Do not stop searching for job opportunities or internships after the MEGA Career Fair, because you could be applying for an internship or employment ahead of time. Individuals who are prepared will not miss opportunities. The Career Service and Internship Services has effective interviewing, networking and informational interviewing, and practice interview appointments to help students be ready for Interviews.

If you have not made a LinkedIn account, start creating one and attend a session hosted by or make an appointment with the Career Center to work on the profile. LinkedIn is a popular platform for employers to find employees and communicate opportunities and information with them. Additionally, LinkedIn is a great resource for networking alongside Handshake.
