The Trump Administration’s Actions Signal America’s Descent Into Fascism

When Donald Trump was elected as 47th President of the United States, I knew his term was going to be more dangerous than his first, I just had no idea how soon that devastation would come. In his first 100 days as President, Trump has imposed tariffs on China and Canada, launching the U.S into a trade war and severing ties with one of our closest and longstanding allies for decades, Canada.
Trump signed an executive order in which he plans to shut down the department of education. He has defunded medical programs at the highest institutions in our country, defunded cancer research, attacked the rights and protections of transgender people, and illegally detained U.S citizens, to name just a few things.
Bringing down the percentage of illegal border crossings isn’t a net positive, especially when you consider the repercussions that Trump’s immigration policies have had on legal green card holders and U.S citizens. It’s hard to say you’re only trying to get rid of the “illegal” immigrants when you are at the same time trying to unconstitutionally end birthright citizenship, something that is part of the fourteenth amendment of our country’s constitution.
Trump has not made good on any of the promises he made to voters during his presidential campaign. He has not ended the Russia-Ukraine war, he has not brought peace to the middle east, he has not lowered egg prices, and he has not made the economy better (all of which he claimed he would do as soon as he was elected to office).
If you support Trump after everything that he has done, not only are you choosing to align yourself with a man who has been publicly and actively endorsed by white supremacists, Christian nationalists, and Neo-Nazis, you are also willfully siding with a man who has flagrantly disregarded the core constitutional principles and values that this country was founded on.
