Fans of  Taylor Swift were stunned and overjoyed in May of this year with the sudden announcement that she had finally bought back the long-elusive masters to her music released prior to her 2019 album, Lover (having re-recorded her previous albums since in an attempt to reclaim her music). The news from Swift has continued coming since as her appearance on Kansas City Chiefs’ football player Travis Kelce’s podcast, New Heights. Alongside her boyfriend (now fiancé) Kelce, Swift has announced the pre-release for her newest album, The Life of a Showgirl.

This is Swift’s 12th studio album, speculated to return to a sound reminiscent of her 2014 album, 1989, as she has reunited with producers Max Martin and Shellback for the first time since 2017. This took fans by surprise, as Swift has long been loyal to musician and record producer Jack Antonoff. This may have been a purposeful decision on Swift’s part, as her work in recent times has been criticized for the repetitive presence of his distinct synth-pop incorporation.

The excitement around Swift’s new album was shortly followed up with an even larger announcement of her engagement to Travis Kelce. Following a 6-year relationship with actor Joe Alwyn and short-lived relationship with long-time romantic interest Matty Healy, lead singer of The 1975, fans of Swift are relieved that she has seemingly, finally found someone to build a future with. However, many football fans are just waiting for the day they can watch a Kansas City Chiefs game without her appearing on screen. Swift references this on Kelce’s podcast, joking, “If there’s one thing that male sports fans want to see in their spaces and on their screens… it’s more of me.”

With all of these announcements in her orbit, the world is ecstatic to see what Taylor Swift has in store for the next year.
