Activities in Autumn? We Got ‘Em!
Mornings and nights have grown chilly. Leaves have begun to turn from their summer green into burnt oranges and yellows. Sweaters are being pulled out of their hibernation, deep within wardrobes. The fall season has officially begun along with its surrounding festive activities!
One of the best things to do during this time of year is apple picking! Honey Pot Orchards in Stow, MA has the best variety of pick-your-own apples, hayrides, fresh produce, and sweet treats like cider donuts or caramel apples. Additionally, there are outdoor activities at Mansfield’s Flint Farm including pumpkin picking, corn mazes, and an ice cream stand with delicious pumpkin and apple crisp flavors to enjoy.
If you’re looking for something more frightening, a haunted house is an exciting excursion to do with family, friends, or alone… if you dare! Whether it’s Canobie Lake Park’s Screeemfest or Barrett’s Haunted Mansion, these attractions’ changing themes, props, and ghouls each year give a unique fright you won’t forget.
Somewhere with a mix of both tricks and treats is the Halloween Capital: Salem, MA! If you’re looking to book a day trip, Salem is the place to be for ghost tours, witch museums, downtown shops, restaurants, and more! If you’re a fan of Hocus Pocus, you can also visit the filming locations there. Being one of my favorite fall traditions, I highly recommend checking it out!
Another favorite of mine is going to Marshalls and hunting for decorations and seasonal candles, accompanying a pumpkin-flavored iced chai or coffee in hand. Going home after a long afternoon of shopping and bringing out boxes of Halloween decor from the basement, is the best way to end a perfect fall day.
And finally, watching all the Halloween classics each October is a must! My favorites are The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Beetlejuice… and honestly, any Tim Burton film. The Halloweentown franchise and Addams Family movies are up there, along with horror hits like Scream and The Shining. And how can I forget about Hotel Transylvania? Between my love for film and fall, the list goes on and on.
