BSU Sports Update

BSU fall sports roll on, with several of your Bears teams participating in significant match-ups, making an impact in their respective conferences and delivering performances that bode well for the final stretch of the fall season.

The Bears’ football team continued its conference play, overcoming earlier inconsistencies to secure a meaningful 35-13 victory on Senior Day over UMASS Dartmouth. The offense found its rhythm; the defense tightened up late; and the result has energized the locker room as the Bears prepare for their final regular-season games.

The field hockey team celebrated Senior Night with a thrilling 3-2 conference win over Framingham State University, demonstrating resilience with a late-game winning goal. Coming off a tough 3-1 loss to Westfield State University previously, the senior leadership seems to be setting the tone as younger players rise to the occasion.

On the volleyball court, the women’s volleyball team has shown strong performances, especially at home. The team is coming off a strong 3-0 sweep of Worcester. The team still remains atop the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) standings with a record of 11-4 (5-0 in conference play).

The women’s tennis team faced a tough loss in the semifinal of the Little East Conference tournament, losing 4-3 to the University of Massachusetts Boston. The loss marked the end of an impressive seven-match winning streak for the Bears, who ended their season 9-5 and with a 7-1 Little East record.

The Bears’ soccer programs are deeply engaged in conference and non-conference play. The men’s team recently achieved a strong result, defeating Fitchburg State 4-1 in a dominant match. Meanwhile, the women’s team unfortunately could not get it done on senior day, drawing with Fitchburg State with a score of 0-0. Both the men’s and women’s teams are in great positions and are preparing for tournament mode in the near future.

The Bridgewater State University Equestrian Team enjoyed another excellent day of competition at the Annabelle Meadow Farm Show, organized by Boston University and Tufts University. Placing 2nd in the show, the Bears proudly returned with the Reserve High Point Team title, demonstrating impressive performances all day long.

Overall, the Bears’ fall athletic teams have shown encouraging signs: improved execution, stronger contributions from depth players, and a competitive mindset that should be beneficial as the season enters its final phase. With several key matches remaining and playoffs on the horizon, the message to Bears fans is clear: now is the time to rally behind these teams and finish the fall with strength and momentum!
