Student Organization Spotlight: Program Council
Have you ever wondered who puts on some of your favorite events on campus? Well, that’s Program Council.
Program Council (PC) is a student-run organization on campus that puts on events for students, by students. Some of your favorite traditions such as Big A$$ Bingo, Duck Day, and the Spring Carnival, are put on by PC. If you’re looking to give back to BSU students through volunteer opportunities, this is the organization for you.
Most notable, last year, BSU held its first spring concert in over 20 years. Program Council hosted Neon Trees and Lisa Heller to grace the Shea and Durgin parking lot with an entertaining evening for all BSU students and guests. They featured food trucks, great music, and an electrifying environment.
I asked a few of PC’s e-board officers about their experience and the upcoming events in the organization. Director of Spirit and Traditions Zoe Morgenweck expressed her excitement for the year ahead: “we have a great team of student leaders, the events are going to be bigger and better than ever before.” This is her second year on the e-board and her first under a leadership position. Evening Events Coordinator, Dominic Zullo, is a senior in his final year with Program Council. Next fall, he will be joining the Bridgewater Graduate Program. He expressed his excitement to do everything he hasn’t done yet. He has been a very active member on campus, advocating for EXCEL students and attending a total of 485 events during his time at BSU.
Program Council continuously works to advocate for all students on campus, making all events accessible and welcoming. They have collaborated with organizations such as Best Buddies and EXCEL and have sponsored events held by the Lewis and Gaines Center for Inclusion and Equity.
The general meetings are every Tuesday 5–6 P.M. in the Center for Student Engagement, located at Rondileau Student Union room 103. Joining PC is a great way to get involved on campus, collaborating with students of both undergraduate and graduate status. Come share marketing strategies, new program ideas, and give a student input on how they can make campus more exciting.
