A Matter of Time Tour—Laufey Sets the Stage for an Amazing Performance
On October 27, I had the amazing opportunity to go to Laufey’s concert at TD Garden. It’s safe to say, especially as someone who has been a fan of hers from the start, that her music and career are outstanding.
The concert began with Suki Waterhouse as the opener. Suki did a fantastic job at getting the crowd excited, in their feels, and hyping up Laufey’s big entrance. She performed some of her hit songs like “Good Looking,” “Moves,” and “My Fun.”
Laufey has a certain aesthetic that’s a mix of classical and whimsical, mostly shown in her elegant dresses and fun outfit changes she has throughout the show. She started out in Boston with a flowy pink princess-like dress, twirling her way across the stage. She then changed into a jazzy, flapper style outfit to sing some jazz versions of her songs with a small combo group, consisting of a drummer, pianist, and cello player. Her last outfit was a black and gold short dress with a cropped officer coat to match, performing songs from “Lover Girl” to “Forget-Me-Not” and her surprise song, “Slow Down.”
Because of this, a lot of her fans love to dress up for her concert, including my friend and I. We wore bows in our hair and skirts. We saw a lot of people with Laufey’s signature felt crown or clocks and pocket watches. She also hosts a “best dressed” segment in her show, leading a lot of fans to display their best outfits and crafting abilities.
The show overall was such a magical experience and brought out a sense of warmth and elegance to the venue. Laufey creates such a warm and safe space within her fans and I cannot wait for more performances from her. She currently is coming out with a Christmas song for the season on her album: A Very Laufey Holiday.
