Is Christmas Coming Too Early?
Every year, on November 1, it begins. The infamous defrosting of a certain singer.
As November progresses, more and more Christmas stuff will be put out. As soon as Halloween is over, people will do everything to get what they need for the winter holiday—despite the fact that it’s not December yet. This has been going on for a long time, and with every year, we get more excited for it, celebrating it as the day gets closer.
As a result of this, the Holiday before it, Thanksgiving, is left in the dust. The people aren’t to blame for forgetting this holiday as it marked a rather uncertain time in our history. It’s something that we, as a species, want to forget. Yet, we must consider why we’re here in the first place—why we came over to America and how, despite so many issues, the Native Americans welcomed us as much as they could.
This very reason is why that holiday is just as important. If we celebrate one holiday too early, then what’s the point of a holiday? Why would we want to celebrate it? There would be no point in celebrating it forever. There would be nothing to gain if we keep talking about it in a month it has nothing to do with.
We need to understand that holidays are meant to be celebrated in their respective months and not all the time. Otherwise, people will start to be annoyed with it. That’s not to say that you can’t celebrate it, but you must be mindful of others when you do. The last thing anyone needs is to be a Scrooge on the festive holiday.
