Making the Most of Your Meal Plan

It’s that time of year; the semester is dwindling and so are dining dollars. If you have run out of dining dollars in the past and don’t want a repeat of this semester, here are some tips to make the most of your meal plan.

If you are a serial dining dollar spender, a Dunkin’ addict, or even simply a resident, get the dining dollars only plan. To say the least, it is one of the best financial decisions I have made at BSU. Not only is it one of the cheapest options, but it can be used in every dining hall, and every dining dollar establishment. If you are a fan of our buffet-style options such as ECC or Flynn, don’t worry because your dining dollars can be turned into a meal swipe and vary on price depending on the meal.

In the past, I have been claimed victim by the running out of dining dollars. If you are also in this situation, here’s how you can avoid it.

Budget—make a budget for yourself once you start to notice a decline in dollars. Limit yourself to make both the most of your meal plan and to make it last.

Use those meal swipes! Get creative at ECC. Use the amenities to their full potential. If none of the rotating food options spark your interest, utilize the U-Cook station. Make everything from stir fry to different pasta options. You can even get an entrée, a side, and a fountain drink (with participating food items) at bears den to make your meal a meal swipe.

If you are truly stuck, you do have options. You can either replenish your dining dollars or use our donation plan! Towards the end of the semester, students who are generous enough will donate their dining dollars. Thank you to all who have generously funded my Dunkin’ refreshers.

Make the most of your meal plan while being budget cautious!
