Midterms are the Real Horrors of October

While October is the scariest month of the year, I’ve recently come to the realization that there is something else that makes the month much scarier besides all the ghosts and horror movies…  MIDTERMS.

I apologize if the previous paragraph made you faint from fear, but it’s a horror that we cannot look away from. MIDTERMS, like ghosts, are very real and in our faces this Halloween. They follow us to the ends of the world, watching over us as we sleep, slowly eating away at us bit by bit. By the end, only the MIDTERMS remain—probably because everyone is getting some much-needed rest after hours of studying.

The worst part of all is that this is no monster movie—it’s a zombie movie. The MIDTERMS increase exponentially in size and amount as the semester go on. I’m only in my third year, but I feel that by the fourth year it will be an insane army of “Solve this” and “Compute that.” Also like a zombie movie, there are other factors besides the MIDTERM army. You can’t combat them alone, so you need to make alliances (study groups) and also scavenge for food. Do you know how hard it is to scavenge for food? …Oh wait—the dining hall is like three minutes away.

I write this article having braved four of five of my exams, and—while it isn’t over yet—I do have one bit of advice for everyone who reads this article: go do something fun! Unlike a zombie pandemic, the MIDTERMS are not here to stay, and we all need a break from the stress. As for me, I’ll probably go marathon some games… at least until an even greater evil is unleashed… an evil far scarier than Christmas music… FINAL EXAMS!

Looking at Room Selection

You forgot to fill out your housing form?!” shouts Random Student A. “You forgot to select the room we wanted?!” yells Random Student B. […]

An Ode to Vinted

Why does it feel like every time I walk into a store nowadays, I’m just looking at a landfill. Like, seriously, all the clothes are tacky, out of style, and way overpriced. It’s gotten to the point where I think around 70% of my closet is thrifted, handed-down clothes or discounted clothes. I am hardly […]
