Boxing Star Gervonta “Tank” Davis Faces Major Legal Trouble
Gervonta “Tank” Davis, a prominent and contentious figure in boxing, is currently the center of a series of legal troubles that may jeopardize his career. The 31-year-old from Baltimore was recently detained in Florida on multiple serious charges and is now facing further legal proceedings in Maryland for breaching probation related to a prior offense.
In late January, Davis was arrested by a joint operation involving the Miami Gardens Police Department and a US Marshals fugitive task force in Miami’s Design District. The arrest followed an alleged incident on October 27, 2025, at a Miami Gardens club, where authorities claim Davis forcefully grabbed a woman (identified by police as a former intimate partner) and led her towards a parking garage.
Police charged Davis with battery, attempted kidnapping, and false imprisonment after surveillance footage reportedly supported the woman’s account of the event. He was taken to the Miami-Dade County jail but was later released upon posting bond.
Shortly after his release, a judge in Baltimore County issued another arrest warrant for Davis, accusing him of violating his probation terms from a 2020 hit-and-run incident that injured four people, including a pregnant woman. That conviction had previously resulted in house arrest and probation, for which Davis had already served additional jail time, breaching those conditions in 2023.
The convergence of these legal issues comes at a challenging time in Davis’s boxing career. His planned exhibition match with influencer Jake Paul in 2025 was canceled due to the legal situation. Sports governing bodies have also taken measures against his championship status, with at least one major boxing association stripping him of his world title following the initial warrant related to the alleged domestic violence case, citing conduct harmful to the sport.
Davis’s upcoming court appearances and potential consequences, including possible prison time, remain pending.
