Snow Days: Yay Or Nay?

You may have read the title and did a double take. How could I (not) dislike snow days? How could anyone (not) want their classes cancelled? Does it (not) make you happy to sleep in and do nothing?!

Let’s start first with the positives. All of your scheduled classes and responsibilities vanish in the snow, and you suddenly find yourself with a rare resource that most college students struggle to find: time. Whether that be time to have fun or time to catch up on work, the day is yours to do whatever you want . . . or it could just be a chance to get extra sleep. That’s a great option too.

As with all things, though, there are also some negatives. You may not realize it from a student’s perspective, but from a teacher’s perspective everything shifts. All of that time you were going to spend on a subject can become condensed, altered, or in some cases, even cut. For example, think about all of the people who had once-per-week classes on Monday and Tuesday. Those people didn’t get a chance to start their classes until very recently, which is kind of crazy to think about.

I guess what it all comes down to is preference. Are you a strict schedule follower or do you prefer taking it day by day? Do you have to be the one who shovels your driveway? It’s because of all these factors that I feel snow days fall under the very unique category of ay: a mixture of both yay and nay.

An Ode to Vinted

Why does it feel like every time I walk into a store nowadays, I’m just looking at a landfill. Like, seriously, all the clothes are tacky, out of style, and way overpriced. It’s gotten to the point where I think around 70% of my closet is thrifted, handed-down clothes or discounted clothes. I am hardly […]
