What Is Up with Parking?
I find it’s become increasingly difficult to park for a campus that is made up of 70% commuters. That is a big percentage of students, so you would think there’d be a place to park for the large amount of us there is.
It used to be that I’d get here later and be able to find a space in the back of the lots, which I accepted since I had later classes, but now, I get here and there are no spots. I get here early—still no spots. I park somewhere else, arrive late to class, and go back to see if there’s any parking—still no spots, even after hours and hours of waiting.
Now, of course, I don’t blame other commuters for this, as we all have the same intention of going to class and wanting a nice place to park. I’m just saying when I have to park somewhere far from my class, sometimes even off campus, I am late to class and cold with sidewalks that are not cleared for us completely, it does just get to me a little bit—okay, a lot a bit.
If it is this much of a struggle for me and fellow students to park, why not open more spaces for us? Give us more access to other lots? If not that, why not make a more reliable bus schedule and route that I can follow? I’ve hardly ever used the buses since they’re hardly on time (which I also don’t blame since it’s run by fellow students), but it still doesn’t help that it is a pain to get to classes in the winter.
I’m just saying, if we’re paying 100–200 something bucks each semester for parking, shouldn’t we get that parking? Perhaps you have some thoughts about parking, so let us know your ideas. Are you satisfied with your parking?
