Where to Stream This Year’s Oscars Nominees: An Overview
The 98th Academy Awards will be broadcast live on ABC and Hulu Sunday, March 15 at 7:00 PM EST from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, with former Late Night host Conan O’Brian MC’ing for the second consecutive year.
The ceremony will award 24 categories, each with five nominees, excluding Best Picture, which has 10. This year’s Oscars are a landmark, with Ryan Coogler’s racially conscious musical-thriller Sinners becoming the most nominated film in Oscar history, being chosen in 16 eligible categories.
Most of this year’s nominees are available for rental or purchase on services such as YouTube, AppleTV, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, but can also be seen on the following services.
HBO Max has some of the night’s biggest films, with Sinners; Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another with 13 nominations; Brazilian spy-thriller The Secret Agent, selected in four categories; and If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, for Best Actress.
Emma Stone’s lead performance in Bugonia can be streamed on Peacock. Best Animated Feature nominees Elio and Zootopia 2, are both on Disney+, while exclusive to Apple TV is Best Picture nominee F1.
Netflix hosts Train Dreams and Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein, both nominated for Best Picture, Cinematography, and Adapted Screenplay, along with KPop Demon Hunters, nominated Best Animated Feature and Original Song for “Golden.” The Norwegian drama Sentimental Value, with nine nominations—including Best Picture, Director, Editing, Lead and Supporting Actress—can be rented for $9.99 on Apple TV, YouTube, and Prime Video.
Currently in theaters are Timothée Chalamet’s Marty Supreme, nominated nine times; the romantic tragedy Hamnet, earning two Golden Globes and eight Oscar nominations; and Blue Moon, nominated for Best Leading Actor and Original Screenplay.
