Disney’s The Muppet Show Revival
It’s time to play the music. It’s time to light the lights. It’s time to turn on the television to watch the revival of a Jim Henson classic, The Muppet Show!
That’s right, after so many years of lying dormant, the Muppets are finally back in the spotlight. Directed by Seth Rogan, the new pilot episode was released three weeks ago, starring Sabrina Carpenter, and at a jaw-dropping run time of 32 minutes, this special is a full-on spectacle from start to finish.
The songs covered by the Muppets are incredible, such as “Blinding Lights” by The Weekend and “Manchild” by Sabrina Carpenter herself. The humor in these skits are on point, such as with the Honeydew’s labs.
Kermit even has a new voice actor, played by Matt Vogel; surprisingly, he does a great job in this role! It seems the writers of the show knew what they were doing, as this Muppet Show is on par with its older seasons.
In fact, ever since Henson’s death and the ending of the original season, the Muppets have been seen in movies and ads. They have also recently appeared in the Game Awards, trying to stay relevant. Their old studio and an attraction in Walt Disney were shut down, causing major backlash.
Yet, despite all of that—all of this hardship—the Muppets are determined to have their time to shine. By the time the show comes to an end for the finale, they end off with Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now,” a fitting song to end off a show, and the results show.
As of recently, the show has accumulated 7.58 million viewers, which just goes to show how beloved they are by the public. With any hope, the studio will make more episodes just like it. So, when you have the chance, watch The Muppet Show!
