Staff Spotlight: BSU Dining
Bridgewater State University is one of the few state schools in Massachusetts with a plethora of dining options. Dining options include Crimson, Bear’s Den, ECC, Flynn Dining, and of course, the crowd favorites, Dunkin’ and Starbucks. With how hectic and busy the lives of college students are, we forget to appreciate the establishments that make our days so much brighter.
From your favorite sushi roll in Bear’s Den to your afternoon coffee treat at Dunkin’, it’s crucial to take note of the staff members that make these dining options delicious and accessible to the BSU community.
A bustling hot-spot on campus is always the Dunkin’ located in ECC. Almost every morning by 10:00 AM sharp, the line of students often reaches the back door! Despite the craziness of weekday mornings, our local Dunkin’ employees always ensure that the caffeinated needs of our busy students are met (something that I am personally incredibly grateful for).
If you are a daily Dunkin’ customer, you probably already know Sheryl. For the past 20 years, she has welcomed students at the front counter with witty banter and a big smile, helping to make everyone’s morning just a little bit brighter. Her personal favorite part of BSU Dining is “not the food, not the bosses, but the students.” She loves talking to students, hearing their stories, and cracking jokes.
Another BSU Dining employee I had the pleasure of talking to was John, who has been working at Bridgewater State for over 11 years! He travels all over campus, from greeting students when they first walk into ECC to running cashier during the hectic afternoon-rush at Bear’s Den. No matter how busy, John consistently greets each student with a smile and a positive attitude, bringing students joy during their quick lunch breaks.
In asking John what his favorite part of the job is, he said that he loves “working as a cashier and helping students.”
