An Ode to Vinted
Why does it feel like every time I walk into a store nowadays, I’m just looking at a landfill. Like, seriously, all the clothes are tacky, out of style, and way overpriced. It’s gotten to the point where I think around 70% of my closet is thrifted, handed-down clothes or discounted clothes. I am hardly ever buying something new or straight off the shelf, which can sometimes get tough when I’m in need of something specific.
That’s where my new buddy, Vinted, comes in. No, this is not a paid promotion, but feel it is my broke college girl duty to share this with you all. Vinted is a thrifting website filled with literally everything. It’s like if Facebook marketplace and Depop had a baby. I always found Depop and Poshmark or even eBay kind of confusing and overpriced a lot, but Vinted has some really good prices with a very clear system of buying and selling to make sure there’s no scams.
Now, I am a new user, so this could be just a new app phase that will eventually catch up over the course of the year and make the listings pricier or make the app overloaded with users and scammers. For now, though, we have the advantage. I’ve found such cute tops, a backpack, formal wear, and more on Vinted. Plus, you can actually feel good about shopping secondhand, not buying cheap fabrics that get overpriced or ugly outfits made from exploited labor. Give it a shot if you’ve thought about thrifting or are already a thrift fanatic, and if you already use it, congrats on being ahead of the curve.
