Digitizing the Connect Card System
As a student here at Bridgewater State University, I have forgotten my Connect Card far too many times to remember. Whether it is going to the bathroom in my dorm hall and having to ask a Resident Assistant to let me back into my room or going to the dining halls, it can be hard to keep track of it. If there is one thing I do not forget, though, it is my phone.
Many institutions across the United States have upgraded their technology in the years since the pandemic to make access to areas much easier. Locally, Westfield State University has options where you can use your student identification to tap into the dining hall, but you can also use an app as well to enter their dining hall for a smooth, faster transition throughout your day.
To solve this, Bridgewater should make our Connect Card accessible on our Apple Wallet. Not only does it give students convenience, but it is also reliable. With just the tap of a button on your phone, you could enter your dorm room quicker than ever, spend your dining dollars at Bear’s Den or Crimson Dining as fast as you can, and much more. Some may argue that if your phone dies, you are out of luck! I also believe in having our physical Connect Cards as another option. Just remember to keep track of it! Bridgewater needs to keep up with the times in a technology-driven world.
