Jack Schlossberg, son of Caroline Kennedy and grandson to the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy Jr. (JFK), slammed FX’s Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette in a recent interview with CBS. The show, produced by Ryan Murphy—known for hits such as American Horror Story and Glee—follows the origin of famous couple JFK and Carolyn Bessette throughout the 90s, including intimate moments like the personal struggle of being in the limelight, as well as the deaths of First Lady Jackie Kennedy and the couple themselves.

Schlossberg discusses its inaccuracy, reminding viewers to keep “one letter in mind … a capital F, for fiction,” while simultaneously considering the current political climate. He reminds viewers of his late uncle’s beliefs, urging Murphy to
dedicate his funds and energy toward those causes, and keeps the past few years in mind, acknowledging politicians Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and President Donald J. Trump who, he says, have misinterpreted the Kennedy name: “There’s a lot of misinformation now and iconography being used about the Kennedy family, my family, at a time when we really can’t afford to confuse
people. We really need to take every breath that we have to try to make things better.”

While audiences of FX’s Love Story may tune in for the love-at-first-sight trope and style inspiration of the 90s, is it worth leaving a lasting mark on the Kennedy name?
