NCAA March Madness Recap
It has certainly been a year of madness in March once again! Sixty-eight of the country’s best D1 College Basketball teams duked it out this season to see who would claim the National Championship in 2026.
On the men’s side, after the first four, the fun got started when Siena nearly beat number one seed Duke. Virginia Commonwealth University ended up bringing down UNC as the 12th seed, High Point, took down Wisconsin. Texas, one of the first four winners, ended up beating BYU and Gonzaga before losing to Purdue, but in that second round, Iowa completed the first one-seed takedown after beating defending champion Florida. Tennessee also upset Virginia.
The Tennessee action got sweeter in the sweet 16 after the Volunteers beat Iowa State. This made things even sweeter for Iowa since they won against fourth seed, Nebraska, to advance to the regional finals. However, the Hawkeyes’ run ended in the elite eight as Illinois advanced to their first final four since 2005. Arizona also advanced from the one-seed to their first final four since 2001. Duke however, wasn’t so lucky, as UConn took them out for their third final four trip in four years.
Over on the Women’s bracket, things were also lively. The tenth seed, Virginia, upset the seventh seed, Georgia, in the first round. Virginia also brought down the second seed, Iowa, before losing to TCU. Notre Dame also beat Ohio State in the second round and the second seed, Vanderbilt, as well. Their run ended against UConn.
All four one-seeds made it to the final four: Texas (second in a row), UCLA (second in a row), South Carolina (sixth in a row), and UConn (fifth in six years). South Carolina and UCLA ended up advancing to the National Championship, so there will be no refunds on anything from Jordan’s Furniture bought between January 20 and March 1, 2026 this year.
