One Piece Live Action Season 2 Is a Grand Adventure!—A Review
It’s crazy to think that the first season of the live action One Piece came out in 2023 and even crazier to think that I covered it back in my freshman year. Back then, I had thought season one was a near-perfect adaptation of the material. As for season two, I would say it is a perfect adaptation.
This season continues the adventures of the Straw Hat pirates as they finally make their way into the Grand Line and, as always, are immediately thrown into new adventures and danger. Tons of fan-favorite characters are finally brought into live action, and each and every cast member is doing an awesome job with their role. I particularly really enjoyed Charithra Chandran’s performance as Miss Wednesday.
Fans of the anime and the manga will certainly notice differences in how this content is presented, but in my opinion, it’s all really well done. While I won’t spoil anything, they do a great job connecting season one plot points, and unlike the manga, which didn’t have everything planned out right away, includes some hints at future plot points that will be in later seasons.
I also really liked how they balanced focus for each crew member. Back in season one, I thought certain characters like Usopp didn’t get enough chances to shine, but here, in season two, I can’t think of any character (even the side ones) who I thought didn’t get enough screen time.
Above all, though, I think the best part about live action One Piece is just how fun it is. I don’t usually think this about shows, but it really is something I can recommend to anyone, especially people who are skeptical of watching the crazy amount of anime episodes. I think it is a solid 10/10.
