Where Has All the Water Gone?—Water Loss Mystery Solved in East Bridgewater

On March 19, the town of East Bridgewater released a statement urging people to conserve water as much as they could until further notice. “The Town of East Bridgewater is experiencing a significant water loss that requires immediate action. All residents and businesses must conserve water until further notice,” read the notice sent out to all residents of the area.

The reasoning? Abnormally low water levels throughout the town due to an unknown source of water loss. Town authorities spent the day trying to locate the source, asking residents to report any water system issues they noticed. However, they still struggled to identify where the loss was occurring.

By the following day, the water loss source was finally identified as a leak from a broken commercial sprinkler line. The leak was quickly resolved, and residents were able to return to normal usage of water. The water storage tank is still in recovery, a factor that the town emphasized was essential for the call for water conservation.

“While the leak was located and secured yesterday, the town emphasizes that water conservation during that critical period was essential to allow the water storage tank to recover fully and safely,” East Bridgewater officials emphasized in a post to social media. “The town extends its sincere appreciation to the residents of East Bridgewater for their cooperation, conservation efforts, and timely reporting, all of which were instrumental in identifying the problem and limiting system impacts.”
