Come Down to the BSU Think Tank!
Whether you have a dream project you’ve always wanted to create or you just want to learn a new skill, the BSU Think Tank is the place for you! Located in DMF 170, the Think Tank is a space open to anyone on campus where creativity flourishes and 3D printers are always running, but what exactly is a “Think Tank”?
The BSU Think Tank, open 9:00 AM–5:00 PM on weekdays, is a spot on campus where students can learn about and create things on various machines. As for what is actually being created, there are endless possibilities. Looking to test a design? Why not 3D print a prototype of it? Trying to impress employers at a career fair? Why not laser engrave a custom business card?
What if you aren’t really sure of what you want to make? One of the best things about the Think Tank is its weekly workshops that, in addition to being free, are great for inspiring future inventors. In the past, the Think Tank has done all sorts of labs, ranging from laser cut Christmas decorations to 3D modeling D&D dice. The possibilities are truly endless.
How exactly can someone get started “thinking in the tank”? The first and most important step is to complete the mandatory safety quiz located on the Think Tank’s website. By scoring a perfect 15/15 and training on the machinery, you will then become a basic lab user who can use the space as long as there’s a lab technician to supervise. From there, upon purchasing material from the Think Tank website, you can begin working with your desired machine.
So, as you begin your BSU journey and get acquainted with the campus, why not consider stopping by the Think Tank? Whether it’s to bring your dream into reality or even just to check out a workshop, the Think Tank is a place where endless creativity can be found and the only limit is your imagination.
