Make BSU Your Home This Fall!
Here at BSU, we have 11 residence halls, each with its own unique style and setup. There are residence halls on both the east side and west side of campus. On East Campus, there are eight halls: Shea Hall, Durgin Hall, Stonehouse Hall, Weygand Hall, Crimson Hall, Miles Hall, DiNardo Hall, and the Great Hill Apartments. On West Campus, there are three halls: Pope Hall, Scott Hall, and Woodward Hall.
If you’re a first-year, you will likely be living in Scott, Pope, Woodward, Shea, or Durgin Hall. Each first-year hall has the standard style, meaning that it is a room with all your furniture and then a communal bathroom. Each room varies in size based on the number of roommates in the room, ranging from a double to a quad. The rest of the halls are suite-style, with some of the buildings having a bathroom and other amenities within the suite. Each hall offers various lounges with TVs, game rooms often including pool or foosball tables, and at least one kitchen in every hall.
If you are considering living on campus, I say go for it! I have lived on campus for three years now, and it has been a blast each year. As an out-of-state student, it was scary to move to a new place with new people so far from home. However, I am so glad I chose BSU because living here really allowed me to become independent and to connect with so many wonderful people.
Some advice I will leave to you if you plan to live on campus this Fall is to not be afraid of the resident assistants, or RAs, in your building. If you are struggling with a roommate or classes or just need some advice, the RAs in your building are an excellent resource. Each is trained to help students in various ways and is well-versed in the many helpful resources we have on campus. Also try to step out of your comfort zone! Knock on your neighbor’s doors at the beginning of the semester and introduce yourself; see if anyone wants to go get dinner at ECC or go to a building program. You might be surprised how many will say yes.
