On September 8th, 2026, Nintendo aired a direct centered around The Legend of Zelda, and their plans revolving the 40th anniversary. For the series’ anniversary, they announced that they’d be releasing the long-anticipated remake of the iconic installment Ocarina of Time, set to come out on the Switch 2 on November 11th this year. The rerelease will feature several new mechanics to modernize the playstyle, along with a brand-new set of graphics to go along with it.
While the main focus of the showcase was the new installment, they also announced a Zelda Concert Series touring all around the world (unfortunately excluding our area), and a Zelda themed color way for the Switch 2.
The company aired an additional direct the day after, filled with general updates on titles like Kirby and Metroid, both of which were revealed to be getting new installments. Along with this, they announced release dates for a plethora of other upcoming games.
