Two students Arrested on the First Day of School

Bridgewater State University may be the third safest campus in America, but on the first day of school the BSU Police Department was busy with a double arrest. Some students have wondered about what exactly happened.

One commuter student was arrested after breaking into an office in Boyden Hall. Following the break in, they threatened a maintenance worker with a knife before ultimately fleeing the scene. According to Glen Anderson, BSU Police Chief, the suspect was identified and apprehended by BSUPD later that day.

The same day, another student made a threatening statement on social media. According to a school-wide email sent by Chief Anderson, they were arrested that day on campus by BSUPD as well.

Both cases remain under active investigation, and the police department could not comment any more than they already had.

Crimes are not common on campus, or at least not commonly reported. Each semester typically features only a handful at most of Campus Crime Report emails from the police department.

If you are ever the victim of a crime on campus, or a witness too one, report it to BSUPD. You can call 911 in an emergency, call 508.531.1212 for a non-emergency, or visit them on campus in person.
