Why Don’t You Have a Seat (At the Movies) For Primetime?
Chris Hansen, a television/media entertainer, has found himself in a new controversy.
If you spent time on cable television in the 2000s, or ever existed on YouTube, you most likely came across Chris Hansen and his show To Catch a Predator, which aired on the program Dateline NBC.
A controversial figure, Hansen has consistently prided himself on his interaction with law enforcement and media companies to catch and humiliate child predators. After working with NBC to produce To Catch a Predator, there was a shift when one of the subjects killed himself during production.
This, along with many other aspects of the show and Hansen’s personal life, are to be explored in the upcoming biopic, Primetime, starring Robert Pattinson and directed by Lance Oppenheim. The film will follow Hansen as his program rose to fame, taking the primetime slot on NBC’s scheduled programming, all the way to, and likely past, its cancellation.
Hansen is not in support of the film and has condemned it on numerous occasions despite not having seen it. This is likely due to how it will not portray his actions in a positive light, showcasing how dangerous these kinds of makeshift vigilantism acts are and what they do to injure the media and public at large.
Hansen, along with the rest of the national audience, will finally see Primetime in theaters on September 25th.
