The Elusive Clam Chowder Fridays!
When I think of BSU dining and what foods would be good, anything with fish seems like it would be bad. I don’t like fish as it is, but I do like clam chowder. Bears Den has clam chowder as their “soup of the day” every Friday, and frankly…. it’s amazing.
I had a cup of it last week and wow! It is strangely good for being just Sodexo clam chowder. The chowder itself was a little thick last week, but usually it is a little thinner, and it was good nonetheless. The potatoes were nice chunks that were cooked just right. They weren’t too soft that it becomes mush in the soup, but also not too hard that it’s crunchy and starchy. It’s eerily good, and the highlight of my dining week. Most of the time in kitchens, soups aren’t fully seasoned as they like to let the customer add a little more salt or pepper, but not Sodexo. Sodexo perfectly seasons it, and the other veggies there are nice and soft. Sometimes the clam is a little chewy, and there may be a membrane or two in there. Overall, it is amazing. A solid 7.5/10, which is shockingly good.
